My PRC-117D(E) and collection of accessories


 SOLD----The PRC-117D is manpack, battery operated transceiver, capable of providing voice and data radio communications in both secure and non-secure modes. The PRC-117D radio will operate in the 30-89.975 MHz, 116-173.995 MHz and 225-419.995 MHz frequency bands. It is also labeled as the RF-2117R/T as this version is.

"Harris RF Communications Group recently introduced a new multiband VHF/UHF radio transceiver designed to meet the multimission, multi-waveform requirements of modern international defense forces.

The new AN/PRC-117D(E) was introduced by Harris specifically for export markets and provides multiple frequency bands in one compact lightweight manpack radio set.

The AN/PRC-117D(E) operates in VHF-FM, VHF-FM/AM and UHFFM/ AM frequency bands and provides for line-of-sight (LOS) operation in all bands, giving complete mission flexibility for ground-to-air, ship-to-ship, ship-to-shore and ground-to-ground communications.

The AN/PRC-117D(E) is interoperable with most tactical radios, including fixed frequency VHF and UHF systems. Waveforms include AM and FM modulation, and Harris' proprietary ECCM frequency hopping. ECCM capability is available in all bands in all line-of-sight modes, and is interoperable with fielded AN/PRC-117A and AN/VRC- 94A(V) series radios.

When used with the built-in RF- 3995 digital encryption option, the AN/PRC-117D(E) provides advanced communications security in the voice and data modes. The RF- 3995 uses a proprietary pseudo random key-generator algorithm with up to 10 exp 52 combinations.

The unique combination of multiple frequency bands and waveforms available in the AN/PRC- 117D(E) effectively reduces the number of radios needed to provide the same communications capability.

The AN/PRC-117D(E) is available in manpack and vehicular versions.

The complete manpack radio set weighs only 15.2 pounds, including battery, antenna and handset. The vehicular version is available with either 10 or 50 watt output."

Typical handset which I do have



This is a nice Piezo speaker meant for a SINCGARS transceiver but the speaker works decently with the PRC-117. I connect it to the radio's "FILL" connector so as to be able to have a handset on the main audio connector. Model is LS-685/U   SOLD ---

Vehicular Adapter AN/VRC-94D for the PRC-117

SOLD --- When I purchased this unit it was basically new/old stock. It has a large power cable to connect to the 12 or 24 volt DC source. The 24 volts DC is converted to 13.6 volts DC to run the radio which is 12-13.6 volt only. It was originally meant to be paired with the PRC117D(C) so I am unsure of if there are any significant differences with the PRC117D(E) that I have and if it affects operation with the vehicular adapter. My E model has software version 30C which is a fairly late model as far as I know. When invoking the self test mode the radio's display can indicate failure A08 or A12. A08 is a receiver issue but the receiver appears to operate fine as seen in the two videos.  If the radio is removed from the adapter and placed on battery power the A08 error is no longer displayed. A12 indicates an RF cable problem for the coax cables to the RF Power Amp but I've checked the cables and found no issues. The power amp was tested as outputting 45 watts on UHF but later i

Battery Charger, Battery Eliminator and Batteries for the PRC-117

SOLD  ----This is the Harris/RF battery charger RF-3094-01 for three of the Nicad battery packs at the same time in either  charge or exercise  mode. I do not have the manual or the remote charging cable. Operation is very simple and the legends on the front explain the symbols shown on the display. Once a battery is charged this unit can be placed in the "Exercise" mode where it will run a routine and provide a percentage of capacity reading on a battery. SOLD----This is the front of my Harris 10012-0590-03 battery eliminator (This is an example of the model tag that my unit does not have) My unit has an additional machined bar of aluminum added for heat sinking and the only connector is for AC. This is not my unit but illustrates what one looks like without the additional heat sink.
